I just finished up a week visiting with an old friend, Tina Patterson, in Colorado. She used to be my roommate in Los Angeles many lifetimes ago … she just happened to ring me up and I had the free time for a visit, so off I went.
We spent the first couple days doing “ranch life” stuff like chasing cows, feeding horses and day drinking at the local saloon. She lives on a ranch in Platteville, and in Boulder, too. It was dusty, lots of horses and cow poo – good times! It reminded me of growing up on our “farm” in Ohio.

We then drove down to Pagosa Springs, where she bought a ranch plot, and where she’s planning to build a tiny home on a ranch. Beautiful property with amazing views. We spent our last night in Durango at the historic Strater Hotel.
I really liked southern Colorado, much more than northern Colorado. Durango is stunning. I love the town and the hot springs is fantastic.
Tina is helping me plan out a trip to Bhutan, which I’m hoping one day to be able to take, maybe soon. I’ve always been fascinated by her unique life in the travel industry. She’s got great stories … but I can’t share them here.
