My parents’ ashes (Richard Michael Robison & Mary Virginia Robison) were finally buried this month at Oak Grove Cemetary (Delaware, Ohio) next to my late brother, Taylor.  It was good to finally get them home and close that chapter in my life.  A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

It took me a couple of years or so to figure out what to do – I considered scattering some of mom’s ashes, somewhere, perhaps in Colorado with horses. But going back to Ohio is where they – and where we – belong. It’s the home of our best memories as a family together growing up on Jewett Road.
Pastor Rick Nuzum from Grace Brethren Church presided over the service – my parents knew him for a time back in the old days before they moved to Memphis.
Some close family friends and Jeff, Michelle and Barry attended – it was all I could handle. Aunt Janice and Uncle Bill listened in via phone.
I read from Corinthians from dad’s Bible and a passage from Death is Nothing At All by Henry Scott Holland. My parents would have been glad to hear it. It was a nice service.
It was good to be back home.
Hello Ohio
The back roads
I know Ohio
Like the back of my hand
Alone Ohio
Where the river bends
And it’s strange to see your story end
