It’s been two years since I’ve been back home town in Columbus, Ohio. Last summer, my trip was cancelled by my house remodeling fiasco and other personal nightmares.
Some things we did on our Ohio trip, that I recall. We went to an anime fest Animate! 2024. It’s like any other comic fest with a specialty form of geekdom – anime, which is now popular with the kids these days. Miles and Luke are really into it.
We toured the Anthony Thomas candy factory (which was great) and went to the Columbus Zoo, which was just like a remembered as a child with my parents. We used to go with my mom and dad back in the 1980s, when Jack Hanna was just getting his start.
Some food highlights: Terita’s Pizza, which is great Columbus style thin crust style, with chewy crust with Ezzo brand pepperoni. Rubino’s Pizza (Bexley) – their cracker thin crust is the greatest. I personally give the edge to Rubino’s as making the best Columbus style pizza. City BBQ and Molly Woo’s Asian were fantastic, too.
We drove up to Oak Grove Cemetery in Delaware to visit my late brother’s grave. Miles and Luke said we should get head stone for mom and dad, which I wasn’t considering prior, but now I’m thinking about it.
We also visited some relatives and old childhood friends.
